The African elephant is the largest land animal in the world with a life expectancy 60-70 years. You can distinguish the different types of African elephants based on their ear and trunk differences. The ivory trade has been mainly responsible for drastically reducing the number of wild elephants over the past century as the number of them alive today is roughly 415,000. <\/p>\n<\/div>

Probably the most iconic and well known dinosaur, the Tyrannosaurus rex ( abbreviated to T-rex) is the largest carnivorous dinosaur. This impressive animal is part of the Tyrannosauroidea predatory group of massive dinosaurs and had a height of approximately 4 meters tall, 12.3 meters long and weighed about 8,870 kilos. This exhibit is the most significant that the museum possesses.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Blue whale is huge with the largest one being 33 meters long. Their weight is equally impressive with some of them weighing in at 200,000 kilos or approximately 30 African elephants. To maintain those massive measurables the amount of krill they consume daily is 4,000 kilos. This exhibit is located in the main hall of the museum hung from the ceiling. <\/p>\n<\/div>

The Velociraptor is not as big as some may think as it weighed in at 15 kilos and had a height of 50 centimeters and was 2 meters long. Although this bird-like dinosaur had feathers it could not fly and most likely used them to control body temperature, protect their eggs from the wildlife etc. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
